Become Part of the Rosebud Story this Christmas!

Thanks to a pledge from a generous donor, this Christmas your donation will be doubled up to $25,000! Our goal is to raise $50,000 to help us reach our fundraising goals for 2023, and we THANK YOU in advance!

2023 marks 50 years since LaVerne Erickson, and a small, dedicated team, started the very first Rosebud Camp of the Arts in 1973. Soon joined by his brother Tim, this little idea slowly blossomed into the thriving Rosebud Theatre & School of the Arts that we celebrate today, enriching the lives of over 35,000 people each year while training the next generation of theatre artists and storytellers. And long before the first settlers arrived here, our Blackfoot brothers and sisters told stories around campfires for thousands of years. We are grateful and honoured to carry on this legacy of enriching hearts and minds through the power of story.

As we celebrate this jubilee year, we would like to invite you to Become Part of the Rosebud Story. For many, this valley already feels like a kind of home-away-from-home – a respite of sorts, and our vision is that Rosebud will be around for another 50 years of great storytelling and warm hospitality, and much, much more! To ensure that happens we’re hoping more people like you will Become Part of the Rosebud Story by joining the community of donors that make up the foundation that keeps Rosebud going. And if you are keen to support the training of the next generation of storytellers, please consider donating to our Artists-In-Training programs.

If you’re not already a donor, please consider making Rosebud Theatre & School of the Arts part of your annual giving. All donations of $20 or more are tax deductible. This support is the bedrock for all we do.

Please join us as we all work to ensure a bright future for Rosebud, sharing great stories, warm hospitality, while training the next generation of storytellers.

Thank you for Becoming Part of the Rosebud Story!

In 2018 Canadian film makers, Eric Pauls and Michael Janke, visited Rosebud and were inspired to create a documentary about our little hamlet, nestled in a valley below the Alberta prairies. The short film has won awards at festivals across Canada, including an Official Selection at the Edmonton International Film Festival where it premiered. But the film’s festival run has been cut short due to COVID-19 and now the filmmakers have turned their sights to helping save the town and theatre that inspired the film.

“We were inspired to make the film after witnessing the magical way Rosebud finds a way to operate and the impact on the community around them,” says director Eric Pauls . ”Now that their livelihood is in jeopardy we felt we should support them the way they have supported us.”

On May 28, 2020, Rosebud, Alberta premiered here at rosebudtheatre.com. Take a moment to watch and share our story with family and friends. We look forward to seeing you in Rosebud!

"Rosebud is a resilient artistic ecosystem that shouldn’t actually "be", and yet will continue to "be" against all the odds!” - Morris Ertman, Artistic Director.
