Johann Sebastian Bach is usually seen as the wise, old man of Western Music, but he didn’t begin his working life that way. At 18, and in his first job as an organist, still barely beginning life as a composer but already a spectacular performer, the young genius got into such trouble that the only thing he could do was to walk away. JS Bach’s Long Walk in the Snow takes you along on that trip: a 400 km odyssey to a glittering northern port city with street fights, big business, insight, fulfillment, the father figure he didn’t know he needed and, quite possibly, love. With glorious music – both familiar and gripping – featuring harpist Lori Gemmel, CBC’s Tom Allen as narrator, Maria Fuller on piano. Laura Veeze on violin, and soprano Dawn Bailey. brings that troubled young man in from the cold.
Running Time: 90 Minutes

Join Calgary’s Devon Brayne for an unforgettable evening celebrating the music and legacy of the Man in Black. Featuring timeless hits from the Cash songbook, this powerful tribute captures the spirit and soul of Johnny Cash’s iconic career.

When Bill and Sandy’s marriage split up, so did their curling team – splintering off into a men’s team and a women’s team who begrudgingly share the ice at the local Curling Club. Now, a medical emergency has left the men’s team short a player on the day of the big regional bonspiel. If they have any hope of beating their rivals from the next town over and taking the trophy, they’ll have to put aside their personal differences and unite as one team. Hurry Hard is a hilarious and heartfelt comedy about what it takes to overcome impossible odds.

Home, a place Anne Shirley has always dreamt of finding. Though she isn’t the strapping farm hand her new family is expecting, her surprise arrival brings an unmatched abundance of spirit to the Cuthbert farm. Will Anne’s vibrant character, imaginative mind, and love of adventure win the hearts of Marilla, Matthew, Gilbert Blythe, and the citizens of Avonlea? Based on the novel by L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables is a musical story of love and belonging for all ages.
Music by Nancy Ford
Book & Lyrics by Gretchen Cryer
Orchestrations by Dave Hab
From the Novel by Lucy Maude Montgomery

Nothing can stop Bekah's calling to be an ARTIST! Except her Mother's convictions that her (many) daughters should lead a practical life, and besides, artists have to paint naked people... while God watches! Oh Mother! is an outlandish comedy that follows the (mostly) true story of multidisciplinary artist and Rosebud graduate, Rebbekah Ogden, as she follows her calling and her mother from Lethbridge, to rural Saskatchewan, to the Calgary Fringe, to Rosebud... where she will unravel her complex history while painting her imaginary friend, plucked straight from the audience.
Directed by Joel Braun

Three exciting days where prospective students experience Rosebud first-hand through workshops, shows, and life in a thriving arts village.
Contact our Recruitment Officer to book your Discovery Weekend!
Get a taste of what it's like to live in Rosebud and train at Rosebud Theatre & School of Arts. You will participate in classes, hang out with students, see a show, work in hospitality, experience small-town life, ask all your questions, talk with instructors, and reflect on the direction your life is meant to take. By the end of the weekend, you will have a good sense of whether or not Rosebud is the right place for your growth as a Christian artist.
"The discovery weekend was an opportunity to get immersed in the school and discover if I was ready for this stage in my life. I found it to be an exciting opportunity to meet instructors and students. It made me comfortable for classes in the fall and it helped shape my decision to attend Rosebud School of the Arts." (Bethany - Rosebud graduate)
Schedule
Applicants usually settle into accommodation on Thursday afternoon and leave Sunday afternoon. The weekend is filled with various activities designed to give ample opportunity to discover Rosebud and to meet the staff and students. Applicants are scheduled to observe classes - for example: choir, acting, art - as they are offered, and they will attend a dinner and theatre performance. Applicants may be asked to assist with the daily tasks of a working dinner and theatre, such as serving patrons or washing dishes. An interview and talent assessment rounds out the weekend. A complete schedule of activities will be given to you upon arrival in Rosebud.
Talent Assessment
Please prepare a one-to-two-minute monologue and a song. Choose a monologue from an existing play; do NOT choose a piece from a video game, film or something you have written yourself. Many online sources can help you find a monologue or you can reach out to us and we can make some suggestions. The song will be sung a cappella (without accompaniment) or you may accompany yourself if you wish. No musical accompaniment is provided. The talent assessment is not an audition. It is an opportunity to express your artistic abilities and for the panel to see where you are at in your journey as a performer. It will be a safe and friendly atmosphere shared with other potential students and two staff members.
Discovery Weekend and Application Fee: $175
The fee covers everything you need on your Discovery Weekend, including accommodation, meals, workshops, classes, and shows. The cost also covers your application fee.
